The innovation and business development team at IDIBELL has participated in the second edition of HEALTHIO, an event held last October 16th, 17th and 18th aiming to introduce the latest innovations in the health field. A delegation led by Gisela Lorente, responsible for IDIBELL’s innovation portfolio, presented IDIBELL’s knowledge transfer and business development opportunities from its own stand, which was open to companies, potential collaborators and visitors in general.

Organized by Fira de Barcelona, HEALTHIO has gathered citizens, health professionals and innovative companies in an open space to promote dialogue among all the agents of the health ecosystem. The nearly 4,500 visitors of HEALTHIO have been able to learn about the latest trends and products offered by 115 exhibitors through 25 itineraries or guided visits, and to listen to more than 321 speakers in 420 talks (agora) among which there were many names linked to the Bellvitge ecosystem and IDIBELL’s spin-offs: Gabriel Capellá, Ángel Raya, Òscar Martínez-Tirado, Oriol Casanovas, Oriol Bestard, Josep Comín, Fernando Fernández-Aranda, Mónica Povedano, Núria Montesinos, Marta Barrachina (admitting Therapeutics), Rafael Máñez (RemAb Therapeutics), Anna Portela (xenops), Joan Gilabert (Tractivus).

Furthermore, during the second week of October, the director of innovation and business development of IDIBELL, Raquel Egea, was part of the business mission team sent to the BioJapan fair by ACCIÓ. This mission has been carried out within the framework of the 20th edition of the BioJapan fair (Yokohama), the Asian reference fair of the global biotechnology industry, in which the leading professionals in business development and licensing meet.

The fair represents “a great opportunity, as Japanese companies in the sector are in the process of globalization and need partnerships with foreign biotechnology companies and institutions to develop new drugs and incorporate new technologies”, explains Egea. This year, BioJapan included a HealthCare area (dedicated to health management and rehabilitation, among other areas) and a digital health area, smart cell industry or eHealth, with the latest innovations in the life sciences and health sector.
