Neuropharmacology and pain

Introduction

The Neuropharmacology and Pain research group embrace all members of the Pharmacology Unit located at the Department of Pathology and Experimental Therapeutics, Faculty of Medicine, Campus Bellvitge, Universitat de Barcelona. Our main goal focuses on joining together the two main aspects of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) pharmacology, namely basic and clinical GPCR pharmacology. Thus, we are composed by experimental pharmacologists that work in the research facilities installations of the UB and by the clinical pharmacologists working in the Clinical Pharmacology Service at the University Hospital of Bellvitge (HUB).

Research lines

. Oligomerization of receptors, ion channels and interacting proteins in the context of neuropsychiatric diseases and pain.

. Study of the functionality of oligomeric interactions in animal models to establish the basis of combined drug treatment.

. Clinical evaluation of drugs in neuropsychiatric diseases and pain by pharmacoepidemiological methods
