IDIBELL offers a postdoctoral research scientist position in prostate cancer resistance mechanisms

IDIBELL is a research center that integrates the biomedical research of the Bellvitge University Hospital (HUB), the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO), and the University of Barcelona in the Bellvitge Campus (UB) and the Viladecans Hospital (HV), located in south Barcelona.

 

The research focuses of IDIBELL are cancer, neuroscience and translational medicineresearch, innovation and society are the pivots on which researchers work every day in order to improve the quality of life of citizens.

 

IDIBELL is located in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, south of Barcelona. It is a member of the Campus of International Excellence of the University of Barcelona HUBc and part of the CERCA institution of the Generalitat of Catalonia. In 2009, it became one of the first five Spanish research centers accredited as a health research institute by the Carlos III Institute of Health. More recently, the European Commission has recognized IDIBELL with the HRS4R logo (Excellence in Human Resources in Research), which identifies IDIBELL as a provider and supporter of a stimulating research work environment.

 
Description of duties

We seek a postdoctoral research scientist to join us in the fall of 2018 at the Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute(IDIBELL) to work on a project in epigenetic modulation of transcriptional networks and mechanisms of resistance in prostate cancer. We expect the candidate to also contribute to the development ofother ongoing and new projects in the field prostate cancer modeling and experimental therapeutics. The candidate will execute and coordinate the research strategy and interact with the clinician scientists involved in the project here at IDIBELL as well as in other national and foreign institutions.


The Prostate Cancer Laboratory is a member of the Program Against Cancer Therapeutic Resistance (ProCure) at the Catalan Institute of Oncology, one of the founding institutions at the Bellvitge Institute for Biomedical Research (www.idibell.cat). The laboratory utilizes Genetically-Engineered Mouse (GEM) models of prostate cancer to elucidate mechanisms of progression to advanced, metastatic castration resistant prostate cancer. We also incorporate Cancer Systems Biology approaches to conduct cross-species studies in mouse and human specimens to design experimental therapeutics and preclinical investigations.


The duration of the project is for up to 3 years and is supported by a CDMRP grant from the US Department of Defense (DoD) Prostate Cancer Research Program. 


Requirements

We are looking for a motivated and accomplished postdoctoral researcher (PhD) with atrack record of early achievements such us first author publication(s) in D1/Q1 peer review journals in the areas of Oncology/molecular biology/cell biology/biochemistry and previous fellowships in competitive calls. Previous experience working with mouse cancer models is a must. Fluency in English is mandatory. Eligibility for EU (Marie Curie) and Spanish-funded fellowships (Sara Borrel, Beatriu de Pinós, AECC,…) will be preferred.


Also will be valued

Candidates with one or several of the below expertise are encourage to apply:

  • Knowledge about NGS methods and data analysis, programing skills (R, Phyton, MatLab..)
  • Organoid culture from patient specimens and/or mouse models
  • Mouse embryo biology, processing and histology
  • Chromatin immunoprecipitation, ATAC, co-IP
  • Mass spectrometry and proteomics

 

We offer

  • Up to 3 years of contract supported by a CDMRP grant from the US Department of Defense (DoD) Prostate Cancer Research Program. Contracts will be signed for 1 year and renewed yearly.
  • Annual salary will be within IDIBELL´s payscaleat 24.000 € and commensurate with experience
  • To join awell funded, young, international and dynamic research group with ample opportunities for internal and external collaborations
